Jodi has spent almost a decade working with people who communicate differently — and she has never
tired of the moment someone finds a way to be understood.
After four years embedded in a government school for children with autism, Jodi developed a deep
understanding of what people are capable of when they are given the right tools, the right
environment, and someone who truly believes in them. That experience shaped everything about how
Connected Speech works today.
Jodi specialises in Augmentative and Alternative Communication — AAC — working with those
whose communication goes beyond speech. Makaton signing, the PROMPT, picture-based
communication, and high-tech devices are all part of her toolkit. She builds individualised therapy
plans for each person, because no two people communicate in exactly the same way.
Her master's dissertation explored how youth empowerment programs can facilitate participation for
young people with disabilities — research that continues to shape her approach to therapy and her
belief that every person deserves a seat at the table.
She was selected for the Dean's List during her master's program — a reflection of the same
commitment she brings to every person she works with.
